Translation of Colossians 3:1-10(ESV)

2. Keep thinking about things above, not things on the earth,
3. for you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
4. When Christ (who is your life) appears, then you too will be revealed in glory with him.

6. Because of these things the wrath of God is coming on sons of disobedience.
7. You also lived your lives in this way at one time, the when you used to live among them.
8. But now, put off all such things as anger, rage, malice, slander, abusive language from your mouth.

10.and have been clothed with the new man that is being renewed in knowledge according to the imag e of the one who created it.

2.4Purpose for this passage within the book

The purpose For the hole book it seems was to Tell the Colosse church to keep their eyes and Jesus and stay away from the haricy teachings. The particula scripture Colossians 3:1-10 is to remind the people that are reading it to turn from doing things they did before that were wrong. Paul reminds the colosse that they have put off the old and are renewed on the knowledge of God (v10) Paul tells them that they are raised with christ so the we should be looking to things above. This is important becaue it focouses them on jesus Paul is saying that because we are dead and than alive in christ we should be like him.
